Debate on motorcycle helmet bill centers on safety, personal choice

Nebraska LegislatorsLINCOLN (AP) — Nebraska state senators are debating whether to repeal a law requiring motorcyclists to wear helmets, and those pushing to get rid of the requirement are optimistic they may finally succeed after years of trying.

Lawmakers have tried and failed for more than two decades to repeal the law, but they think that new senators — about one-third of the Legislature is new this year because of term limits and the 2016 election — will help them finally remove the helmet requirement for riders older than 21. READ ON
